We are Laura-Marie and Ming. We are Permaculturists.
We quest for more elements of succession in permaculture design plans, and inclusiveness in permaculture structures, both physical and theoretical. Disability Justice is a paramount ethic. All bodies are valid bodies, and all people can contribute to community.
Laura-Marie (ki kin, they them, she her) is an artist, writer, and zinester. Their favorite plant is tree collard, and they love disabled dancing. Laura-Marie likes to ride trike, sing in a few different languages, cook veg food, and advocate for fat liberation and autistic liberation.
Laura-Marie is disabled by hypermobile joints and chronic pain, as well as autism and multiple psychiatric diagnoses. But mostly Laura-Marie is disabled by capitalism, with its unrealistic expectations of a grueling pace of consistent production. Capability fluctuates, which is to be expected. We’re all alive, which means we’re all in flux, changing.
Ming (they / he) is a disabled retired nurse, and the spouse of Laura-Marie. They have two young adult children. They enjoy living in community, serving Food Not Bombs, working as a street medic, and helping run the Las Vegas Radical Mental Health Collective. Ming is a yea-sayer and has the sleep disorder narcolepsy. They say that activists need to stay active.
Ming loves poppies, esparliered Asian pear trees, walking onions, caring for chickens, and speaking the truth. Like Moses, Ming is slow of speech. He’s open to feedback and not afraid of what other people think.
